Fritz Kaegi Launches First Ad of Campaign, Exposing How Corporations Shift Tax Burden onto Homeowners
The ad, “Seesaw,” highlights how Fritz is fighting to un-rig a property tax system that gives corporations big tax cuts while forcing homeowners to foot the bill
CHICAGO — Today, Cook County Assessor Fritz Kaegi released the first video ad of his re-election campaign. The ad, “Seesaw,” emphasizes Fritz’s commitment to lower property taxes for homeowners by fighting back against corporations that don’t pay their fair share.
The ad uses a seesaw to illustrate the broken property tax system: When developers are given excessive tax appeals, their tax burden gets shifted onto homeowners, raising their tax bills higher and higher.
“The property tax system is rigged against working-class families and Assessor Fritz Kaegi is fighting to fix that,” said campaign manager Sophia Escobedo. “Big commercial properties are getting tax breaks they don’t deserve, sticking homeowners with higher bills to make up the difference. Fritz is running to make these big corporations pay their fair share in taxes, and we’re making sure voters know it.”
The primary election is on March 17, 2026.

Transcript:
“Everyone should pay their fair share of property taxes… But big developers rigged the appeals process, getting tax cuts they don't deserve and shifting the burden onto middle class families.
I'm Fritz Kaegi and I'm working to level the playing field by making developers pay what they owe so we can lower taxes for the middle class.
And I'm expanding property tax relief for seniors, veterans and people with disabilities.
I'm Fritz Kaegi, and paying taxes is never fun, but I'm making it fairer for you.”
