Fritz Kaegi Submits More Than 22,000 Petition Signatures to Appear on Ballot for Re-Election
Cook County Assessor submits three times more signatures than required in a show of widespread grassroots support
CHICAGO, IL — Today, Cook County Assessor Fritz Kaegi delivered 22,045 petition signatures, spanning 1,537 pages, to secure his spot on the ballot for re-election — three times the amount required by law. The signatures were collected in all corners of the county by more than 100 campaign volunteers and supporters.
In response, Cook County Assessor Fritz Kaegi released the following statement:
“I want to thank everyone who signed our petitions and all of the volunteers who helped get us back on the ballot.
“When I’m out talking to voters, it’s clear that they want someone who will stand up to the special interests driving up their tax bills and that’s what this campaign is all about. People are fed up with big corporations and large commercial properties getting tax breaks they don’t deserve and sticking the rest of us with the bill. I’m fighting to change that, and based on the reception we’re getting on the doors, people across Cook County are ready for that fight.”
